Description

We are beginning a search for a new position: an Operations and Business Development Manager for our Matcha cafe business.
Looking for a Japanese/English bilingual who can help us manage and grow the business. Currently there are 2 stores and looking to expand 1 store per year over the next 3 years. It's a potentially attractive opportunity as Matcha consumption is growing, and it is great for someone that has a passion for Matcha

- Position title: Japanese Bilingual Operation Manager
- Location: El Segundo, CA - Regular travel to Torrance and Cypress locations required.
- Hiring Condition / FLSA : Direct Hire, Non-Exempt
- Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000/year
- Hours: 40 hrs/week, 5 days per week (some weekend work may be required)

Description: Under the direction of the Vice President of General Merchandise, the Cafe's Operations Manager will oversee the store development and operations. This manager will direct store leaders and cafe staff in accordance with the Company’s sales and profit goals, marketing, promotion and e-commerce initiatives, merchandising and customer service standards, and all applicable operational standards. 

Primary responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the cafe and supervise the store leaders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitors the Cafe team’s progress to ensure alignment with company goals, develops improvement measures, and strives to maintain cost efficiency while increasing profitability.
- Responsible for overseeing cafe staff hiring and training in conjunction with store leaders, including conducting interviews, hiring new staff, and providing employee orientation.
- Complete monthly sales, cost, inventory, AR and AP reporting for the stores; direct store leaders in developing, analyzing, and preparing monthly store sales, loss, and cost-related reporting.
- Establish employee key performance objectives and conduct periodic employee performance reviews
- Work with store leaders to efficiently manage staff scheduling to include: work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, shift rotations, and timesheet submissions.
- Work with suppliers, store leaders and Quality and Purchasing Operation Control team to plan and adjust menu/product offerings that are profitable and popular with customers
- Work with store leaders and the Quality and Purchasing Operation Control team for efficient provisioning and purchasing of supplies.
- Risk & Safety--Food Safety & Allergy Compliance: Establish strict allergen management protocols and maintain a clear escalation path for health-related incidents. Ensure all stores comply with all health department and safety regulations.
- Plan and execute marketing and sales promotions, including social media and online sales initiatives, in conjunction with the Marketing/EC manager.
- Strive to improve retail store’s atmosphere, and to always keep stores clean and attractive.
- Continually look for opportunities to expand the company’s business, be it by growing existing stores or expanding into new locations. Research and recommend new store locations and participate in the development of those new locations.
- Undergo training to learn menu preparation and techniques, as well as operational standards from our brand partner in Uji, Japan.
- Participate in meetings with headquarters in Tokyo, supplier partner in Kyoto, or operation partner in Canada to exchange insights on product development, store improvement initiatives, and quality control matters, and apply those discussions to enhance store operations.

Requirements:
- Years of Experience in Field/ Career: Minimum 2 years food service experience, 1 year supervisory experience is required.
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field.
- Japanese Language: Professional working proficiency in English and Japanese is required (speaking, Email communication)
