Description

We are seeking a Japanese–English bilingual Senior Immigration Paralegal with at least five years of hands-on experience in U.S. employment-based and business immigration.
The successful candidate will support Japanese companies, expatriate employees, and their families throughout the U.S. immigration process. This is a fully remote position open to qualified candidates residing anywhere in the United States or Japan.
All substantive legal work will be performed under the direction and supervision of a licensed U.S. immigration attorney.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters.
• Handle visa categories including E-1/E-2, L-1, H-1B, O-1, TN, F-1/OPT and dependent applications.
• Assist with employment-based permanent-residence matters, including PERM, I-140 and adjustment-of-status applications.
• Prepare USCIS, Department of Labor and Department of State forms and filing packages.
• Draft petition-support letters, case summaries and responses to Requests for Evidence for attorney review.
• Review Japanese and English corporate, employment, financial and personal documents.
• Communicate with Japanese corporate clients, foreign-national employees and their families in Japanese and English.
• Explain document requirements, filing procedures and case status without providing independent legal advice.
• Coordinate visa appointments and consular-processing documentation.
• Track filing deadlines, expiration dates, priority dates and government responses.
• Maintain complete and accurate electronic case files.
• Conduct immigration-related legal and procedural research.
• Provide regular case-status reports to clients and the supervising attorney.
• Train or mentor junior paralegals and administrative staff as needed.
• Protect confidential, personal and immigration-related information in a remote-working environment.

Required Qualifications
• Minimum five years of U.S. immigration paralegal or visa case-management experience.
• Professional fluency in Japanese and English, including written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated experience with employment-based and business immigration matters.
• Strong knowledge of USCIS forms, supporting documentation and filing procedures.
• Experience working with Japanese companies, executives, employees and expatriate families.
• Excellent English drafting, proofreading and document-review skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fully remote environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, video-conferencing platforms and cloud-based case-management systems.
• Reliable high-speed internet and a private, secure remote workspace.
• Ability to work scheduled hours that provide reasonable overlap with U.S. Central Time and Japan Standard Time.
• Authorization to work in the candidate’s country of residence.
Preferred Qualifications
• Juris Doctor or comparable law degree from a U.S. or foreign university.
• Experience with E-1/E-2 treaty-trader and investor cases.
• Experience with L-1 intracompany transfers and new-office petitions.
• Experience with Japanese corporate documents, organizational charts and financial records.
