California employers should take note that the Cal\/OSHA workplace posting titled \u201cSafety and Health Protection on the Job\u201d was updated in April 2026. The poster summarizes key workplace safety and health obligations under California law and must be displayed in a conspicuous location where employee notices are customarily posted. Failure to display the notice may result in penalties.\u00a0The posting reminds employers of their obligation to provide safe and healthful workplaces, comply with applicable Cal\/OSHA standards, and maintain a written and effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, as temperatures rise across California, employers should revisit their obligations under Cal\/OSHA\u2019s heat illness prevention standards.\u00a0\u00a0The outdoor heat illness prevention standard applies to all outdoor places of employment. Among other things, employers must provide fresh drinking water, access to shade, cool-down rest opportunities, training, emergency response procedures, and acclimatization procedures. California\u2019s outdoor rule also requires high-heat procedures in certain industries, and additional precautions apply when temperatures reach 95\u00b0F or higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
