Maryland Enacts Paid Family Leave Law

Beginning on October 1, 2023, businesses with 15 or more employees will be required to contribute to the Family Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Program. The “Time to Care Act” will create an insurance program that will allow employees to take up to 12 weeks (up to 24 weeks for some employees) of paid leave to deal with family matters such as the birth of a child, caring for an unwell loved one, etc. Employees may begin taking leave on January 1, 2025.
